Some of the common reasons of tooth loss are:

-
Injury and long-term trauma to the teeth
-
Gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis(pyorrhea)
-
Failure of root canal procedure
-
Missing teeth since birth
Prerequisites for Dental Implants
Implants are long-lasting, permanent solutions for complications which are beyond the point of restoration. These implants are constructed of titanium and anchored to an artificial tooth. Unlike dentures, they don’t cause any discomfort when you’re eating or drinking, which makes them far more preferable, especially if you’re still young and otherwise healthy!
There are 3 basic criteria that you must meet before you consider implants:
Good quality and quantity of bone to anchor the implant
The gum round the affected area should be healthy and free of any periodontal disease
You should be able to maintain the oral hygiene around the implants in future.
Our specialist team comprises of Dr. Nihal Devkar and his highly-experienced dentists team who have undergone special training and operate in well-equipped environs, to ensure your implants look and feel just like your original teeth.
Pre-Procedure
The treatment typically begins with a consultation with one of our dentists, who will discuss your medical history, current oral health and any medication you may be on. Based on the consultation, we will suggest a treatment plan that best fits your unique needs.
Post-Implant precautions
Our specialized team carefully manages tissue, to minimize any discomfort you may feel during or after the procedure. The dentist will typically prescribe anti-inflammatory medication and an anti-bacterial mouth rinse to aid the healing process. Every situation is unique, so consult our dentists on post-procedural care and read our Implants after Care Form carefully.
After the implant placement
Once a treatment plan has been fixed, the dentist will place the implant in a single sitting, but it would require a period of osseointegration (the anchoring of your dental implant to the jaw bone). Within as little as three to six months, once the implant is completely healed, an impression of the implant is taken and sent to the laboratory. The single crown/denture/ full set of fixed teeth are then fabricated by the laboratory. There are certain mandatory trials during this entire procedures to ensure that the implant crown/denture is precisely prepared and finally fitted.
Care of Implant
Oral hygiene maintenance around implant caps/denture is must to prevent any infection around the implant. This can be achieved different aids like dental floss, interdental brush and water flosser. Also, get yourself checked every 6 months to ensure the implant stability. We will do the clinical checkup and take xray if needed to rule out any infection.
Limitations of Dental Implants
Though they’re few, there are certain limitation and specific cases where implants might not be feasible, like:
-
When the jawbone is not thick enough to accommodate the implants. In such a case, you might be need an additional surgery either before or during the implant procedure to augment the available bone using commercially available bone grafts and other biomaterials.
-
For patients suffering from uncontrolled diabetes or untreated periodontitis. You can control your diabetic status and get the implants done.
-
If patients have immune-system deficiencies
-
For patients with severe systemic illnesses or blood-clotting disorders
-
Drug abuse
